Chapter Update
It’s been a challenging year for everyone with COVID. As communicated back in April, I’m happy to report that the Chapter has weathered the pandemic and is positioned well for the Fall. Last Spring, the Chapter had 30 live-ins in spite of on-line only instruction. Spring rush was virtual again. We were still able to recruit/initiate 13 Associate Members. The Chapter did have a small outbreak that affected 15 members. Fortunately it didn’t lead to any serious cases. By Spring Break everyone was healthy and restrictions placed by the City/University were lifted on the Chapter House. Chapter House is almost full this Summer. We also are projecting a full house with 40 live-ins this Fall.
Cal vs TCU game on 9/11
On Sunday, Sept 11 @ 3:30 pm local time Cal will be visiting TCU in Ft Worth for our first football game road trip. So far, we have a couple of alumni that have expressed an interest in attending. The visiting group is looking to purchase tickets for the game by Wed, July 21. If you are interested in attending please let us know by Monday, July 19 and I can purchase a block in the Cal section. We have a local TCU friend that will help set up local pre-game festivities.
Deftos/Chang/Schad Memorial Activity on Friday, 10/1 @ 8 pm
With the return of in-person instruction, we are anticipating a return to our traditional pledge recruitment and education schedule. Due to COVID, we haven’t been able to do the Deftos/Chang/Schad Memorial Activity for the past three semesters. The activity brings together alumni/actives to educate the new members about how precious and short life can be by remembering three brothers from different eras that were taken too soon from us. Alumni meet at Freehouse (College/Bancroft) between 6:30-7 pm. Post activity, the Chapter hosts an alumni/active mixer where alumni can get to know Members better.

Alumni/Active Pre-Game Tailgate on Saturday, 10/2
The Chapter and the Alumni Association are hosting a pre-game Alumni/Active tailgate before our Homecoming game vs WSU on Saturday, 10/2. Game time is still TBD. Depending on kickoff, we will be planning to start the pre-game tailgate 2-3 hrs before kickoff. We would like to invite alumni/friends to stop by the House on the way to the game or drive up and park in the lot.
