Chapter Update
The Chapter had a successful 2012-2013 Academic Year. They had recruitment success by recruiting more than the IFC average. This culminated with the initiation of 22 members for the academic year. We strongly believe that these 22 new members will set us up for future success. Each pledge class had a higher than IFC GPA average. This Fall the Chapter will have 36 live-in members. I’d like to recognize each undergraduate member on their contributions to getting us to this point.
Fall Rush
Official Fall Rush will run from Thursday, 8/29 – Thursday, 9/5. Alumni are invited to attend the Chapter’s Bid Night Activity on Thursday, 9/5. Dinner is planned for 7:30 pm so Alumni have a chance to show up. Please email either Casey Doherty, Vice Archon or Zach Brown, Chapter Advisor if you would like to attend.
As in previous years, Bill & Launy Peironnet will be hosting the Chapter’s Rush Retreat in conjunction with the Alumni Association Board on Saturday, 8/24. Alumni are asked to show up at 1 pm. Alumni and their families are encouraged to attend. If you plan to attend please email Juan Serrano by Monday, 8/19. We need to provide a final number of alumni attendees by Tuesday, 8/20. As always we hope a lot of you can make it.
Football Season Tailgates
This Fall, we plan to again continue the tradition of hosting pre-game football tailgates at the Chapter House. As you know, we offer pre-game football tailgate sponsorships of $100 (goes towards food/non-alcohol drinks) for each game in exchange for a parking spot. Please see below the tailgate opportunities for this Fall.
Sat, 8/31 vs Northwestern
Sat, 9/7 vs Portland St
Sat, 9/14 vs Ohio St (Lots of alumni are planning to attend including many members of the 19 person Fall ’88 pledge class that is hosting it’s 25 year reunion that weekend)
Sat, 10/5 vs Washington St (This is the designated Family Tailgate. Will be kid friendly, we plan to get a jumpy house for the back deck)
Sat, 10/19 vs Oregon St
Sat, 11/2 vs Arizona
Sat, 11/9 vs U$C
Please let us know if you’d like to sponsor one of the tailgates. So far we only have a couple of sponsors and we are looking for at least 4 per game.
Alumni Board Opening
We currently have a vacancy on our 7 person Alumni Board. One of our Board Members, Ryan Panos decided to step down to focus on working more directly with the Chapter and the Chapter Advisor. We’d like to thank Ryan for all of his efforts on the Board and with the Chapter. He’s been instrumental in the Gammazette Publication, Alumni Career Panels for the Undergrads, an Alumni/Undergrad Mentorship Program and countless other efforts that we’ve all been able to experience. Thank you Ryan and look forward to your continued impact with the Undergrad Chapter.

San Diego Golf Industry Contacts Requested
A recent alum, David Judy has moved down to the San Diego area and is interested in breaking into the Golf Industry. He’s in the process of trying to make connections with some of the manufacturers based there. He currently works as a Financial Aid Counselor for a Private College. His skill strengths include interpersonal, writing and communication. He hasn’t narrowed his search down to a specific position yet. He’s looking for alumni that can provide some advice and potentially pass along any contacts that they might have. Please either email me or him directly at davidarthurjudy@gmail.com
Gammazette Request
We are currently working on the Fall edition of the Gammazette. Would love to include any updates you’d like to share with fellow alums. Please email us any update you’d like us to publish by Sept 5.
