The following are updates for what’s taking place at the chapter:
Deftos/Chang Memorial Activity
The Deftos/Chang Memorial Pledge Activity is scheduled for this Friday, Oct 19th at approx. 8 pm at the Deftos Memorial Tree. The replanting of the tree will not be completed by the activity date. The University is now saying it will be completed before then end of the semester. Specific date to follow. Mike Barnes & Jake Lenihan will be coordinating alumni participation. Please contact them asap if you want to attend. They will send out more communication later this week to those that email them.
Football Tailgate Sponsorships
Thank you for your support so far this season. It’s been better than any other year. As you know in exchange for the pre-game sponsorship of $100 that goes towards food you get a free parking spot. The following is the current pre-game tailgate sponsorship status.
– 10/20 vs Stanfurd: Scott Keller, Ed Bustamante, Carlos Andrade, Miguel Carriedo, Neil Shah, Eric Evans, Ari Barkan, Mike Glantz (all spots taken)
– 11/2 vs UW: Adrian Fernandez, Freddy Fernandez, Cory Dean, Greg Rising (1 spot open)
– 11/10 vs Oregon: Frank Winton Jr, Cory Dean, Mike Yeraka (2-3 spots still open)
Let me know if you’d like to volunteer to be a sponsor for either November game.
Also, as previously communicated we accept alumni beverage fund donations ($10/person/game). Usually either Freddy Fernandez or I collect the cash from donors at the Chapter House on Game Day. Unfortunately, both of us are out this weekend due to a bad brother’s idea to get married on Big Game Weekend. Due to this terrible mistake, we are going to try something different. If you will be at the Chapter House on Saturday and want to make a donation to the alumni beverage fund, please email me your desire to contribute and we’ll figure out a way to collect (mail, future game, etc.)
Founder’s Day – Friday, 11/30
Founder’s Day has been scheduled for Friday, 11/30 at the Waterfront Hotel in Oakland’s Jack London Square. Cost for dinner is $40/person or $70/couple. Dress is Coat & Tie. There will be a cash bar. If you’d like to attend please check out our event page where you can RSVP online. The following is the event schedule:
5:30 – 6:30 pm Pre-Reception Event @ Chapter House
7 – 8 pm Cocktail Reception @ Waterfront Hotel
8 – ?? pm Dinner Banquet (Music/Dancing to commence after Awards Reception)
May ’13 Graduate (Alasdair Pressney)
Current Vice-Archon Alasdair Pressney is graduating in May ’13 and is starting his job search (as are several other brothers). One of the greatest opportunities our association with Gamma affords us is the connections made not only in college but in the work world as well. If you are looking for some new hires starting next year and want to help out a fellow Pi Kapp, please email us.
