Alumni – It’s been a while since my last email communication. Below are the topics I’m covering today:
Chapter Update
The Chapter has continued to grow. 12 Spring Associate Members were initiated in May and the Chapter finished with over 50 members. At least 7 Chapter Members fundraised and participated in PUSH America events this Summer. We had representation on the following PUSH America fundraising/awareness events: Gear up Florida, Build America and Journey of Hope. This Fall we will have approx. 40 live-ins and don’t have any plans for Boarders.
8/23 Rush Retreat
On Saturday, 8/23 Bill & Launy Peironnet will be hosting our annual Fall Pre-Rush Retreat at their home in the Santa Cruz Mountains near Los Gatos. About a ½ dozen alums are scheduled to participate with approx. 40 undergrads. If anyone is interested in participating please email by Sunday, 8/9.
Fall Rush Bid Night on Friday, 9/5
This Fall’s rush will end with a formal bid night on Friday, 9/5 at the Chapter House. Each of the past 2 semesters we’ve been able to have at least 6 alumni attend the event. Alumni are encouraged to attend and help demonstrate the strong Chapter bond beyond your time at Cal. Please let Zach Brown, Chapter Advisor, or me know by email if you can attend.
Cal vs Northwestern Opening Game on Sat, 8/30
Cal’s 2014 Football season kicks off vs Northwestern in Chicago on Sat, 8/30. A strong contingent of Gamma’s are planning to attend. So far I have John Li, Todd DiPaola, Greg Douglas, Steve Pas, Frank Winton Jr, Frank Winton Sr, Clark Bertram, Rob Shen and Stefan Zmugg. Let me know if you’d like to join us for pre-game via email.
Cal Home Football Game Alumni Tailgate Sponsorships
As communicated before, every home football game the Chapter will be hosting a pre-game tailgate. They encourage alumni to stop by the pre-game tailgate. We also encourage alumni to sponsor the pre-game tailgate ($100/game) in exchange for a free parking space. This year’s home football game schedule is the following:
9/6 vs Sac St
9/27 vs Colorado
10/11 vs UW
10/18 vs UCLA
11/22 vs Stanfurd
11/29 vs BYU

Chapter Alumni/Active Event to Benefit BORP – Adaptive Sports & Recreation
The Chapter is partnering with Delta Gamma (this will be their Father/Daughter event) on Saturday, 9/27 to raise funds for the Bay Area Outreach Program for Adaptive Sports & Recreation. BORP’s mission is to advance the lives of people with physical disabilities through sports and recreational activities. This is very well aligned with the mission of PUSH America. Both organizations will sell individual Cal Football Game Tix (Cal hosts Colorado) where a portion of the proceeds will be donated to BORP. Tix cost will include a t-shirt and potentially the opportunity to go on the field after the game. Final details are being worked out and will be communicated shortly. Please let me know via email if you are interested in buying tix and participating.
Deftos/Chang/Schad Activity on Friday, 10/17
The Deftos/Chang/Schad Memorial Pledge Activity will be hosted this Fall on Friday, 10/17 at 8 pm. Alumni will be meeting before the event at Freehouse on Bancroft/College starting at 6:30 pm. If you are interested in participating please let Zach Brown, Chapter Advisor or me know by email.
